Druid from "Invoking the Spirit of the Grape"

Druid from the sculpture

The cement druid is part of a multimedia sculpture titled "Invoking the Spirit of the Grape." The work was on exhibit at the EcoArts of Lake County Sculpture Walk 2007. After the show concluded in October 2007 the piece was moved to the PsiKeep Center for the Arts for permant installation.

The cement druid was created in the summer of 2006. There are three steps in the process used to construct the work. First, a steel pipe armature was created. Next, polystyrene foam was applied to the armature and carved. Last, the foam was covered with cement and the figure was tiled.
